CITY'S DAV POST GOT ITS CHARTER IN '33
Ypres Post,
No. 4, Disabled American Veterans of the World War, is comprised of veterans who
suffered disability in the war. The charter to the post was granted by J. W.
McQueen, national commander, on August 3, 1933. The post has its quarters in the
G. A. R. rooms at Memorial opera house.
Charter members of the post are Hans L. Andresen, Harry O. Henson, Harvey S.
Cook, Martin L. Brody, Earl Smith, Melvin Baker, Edward Berndt, Harry Eckley,
Frank Ferguson, Knut Sundin, Byron J. Barrington, Luther Bloch, Florence
Donahue, Wesley J. Berrier, Ralph O. Kounos, Tony Christopher, Ira Funkhouser,
William Shearer, Lester P. Claussen, Russell Hickman, Theodore Blank, Gerald
Johnson, August L. Dickson, A. T. Brown, Richard F. Mangel, Paul William
McDonald, Philoma L. Westbay, Russell E. Sims, Harvey C. Warner and Michael J.
Lane.
Ypres post enjoys the honor of having one or its members, Hans Andresen, holding
the office of state president of the organization, having been elected at the
annual convention at Richmond in June.
Present officers of the post are: Ralph O. Kounos, commander; Herman Bauer,
senior vice commander; Alva Reed, junior vice commander; Leslie E. Lembke,
adjutant; Florence Donahue, sergeant-at-arms; Paul McDonald, treasurer; Tony
Christopher, chaplain.
