Dies In Vietnam
A 1962 graduate of Liberty Township High school has been reported killed in
action in Vietnam. Reported killed was Sgt. Phillip R. Venekamp, 29, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Richard G. Venekamp, MR 31, Box 340.
He was born March 27, 1944 in Chicago. In the Armed Service two years, Venekamp
had been in Vietnam since October.
Bartholomew Funeral home will be in charge of arrangements, pending arrival of
the body.
Surviving besides his parents are one brother, Richard, of Valparaiso; one
sister, Mrs. Dan Barnard, who resides with her parents; and grandparents, Mr.
and Mrs. Emil Mack of Rensselaer, and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bowman of Wheatfield.
Official notification of the death was received by Mr. and Mrs. Venekamp today.
The Venekamps had received earlier notification that Phillip was missing in
action on May 18.
